Description

Stanwell Farm is a farmhouse dated 1693 on the north gable and 1697 above the doorway. It has been altered, restored, and extended in the 19th century. The building is constructed of Isle of Wight stone rubble and features a tiled roof. It stands two storeys high with attics. The east front has four windows and attics in the gable ends, which are adorned with stone coping and kneelers. There are four 19th-century casement windows. The late 17th-century wooden doorcase includes a three-plank door with iron hinges and studs, featuring the carving "ER 1697" and a carved heart in between. A renewed brick chimney stack is present, and the north gable displays the initials "BB" along with the date 1693. Attached to the farmhouse is a 19th-century gabled extension with casement windows, and modern wings have been added to the south. A stone wall and pump are located by the back door. The interior retains chamfered beams and one original 12-light wooden casement window.
