Description
Raikes Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1692, with a 19th-century rear extension. It is probably built of brick, now covered in pebbledash, featuring a stone cornice gutter and a graded slate roof. The left gable has stone coping. The building has a 3-unit baffle-entry plan, with one axial chimney stack and one gable chimney stack. It is two storeys tall and asymmetrical in design. The plain doorway is recessed, and there is one 2-light casement window on each floor on the left side, along with two 3-light casement windows on each floor on the right side; the ground floor windows have keystones. All windows have stone sills and wooden frames. Each gable wall has a small sashed window on the ground floor, and the right gable features an inset square sandstone tablet with the letters B T S 1692 in relief. The interior originally had a staircase in the right bay, which was previously the kitchen, but it has been removed. The upper floor and the outshut at the rear of the right bay have rush ceilings.
