Description

This is an early 19th-century toll house situated on Castle Road. It is arranged in an L-shaped plan and is constructed of rendered brick, painted and with a roof of rippled slate. The north-west end projects with a three-sided bay. The north entrance front features two windows, with two-light casements containing glazing bars and block sills within flush surround frames. A recessed door comprises four fielded panels, two of which are glazed, and is surrounded by a plain wooden architrave. The north-west bay has a single window on each side, with no window to the front. These windows are casements with diamond-pattern glazing bars, flush wood frames, and block sills.
