Description

Nos 66 to 70 on High Street are a block of three-storey houses and shops, built around 1850 at the corner with Market Street. The buildings are faced with stucco and feature giant paired Doric pilasters, along with three single pilasters on the return. There is an entablature with a parapet above. Each house has one window, which consists of glazing bar sashes set in surrounds with consoles supporting the sills. The first floor of No 66 has a cornice above, while the other two houses have later canted pilastered wooden bay windows. The shop fronts have been altered, except for the corner of No 66, which retains its fascia with a cornice. The Central Hotel and Nos 66 to 70 form a group.
