Description

Numbers 18 and 19 are a pair of terraced houses built around 1825, likely designed by Amon Wilds and Charles Augustine Busby. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a roof hidden by a parapet. They rise four storeys above a basement and feature a three-window range. The round-arched entrances are set back under a shared flat-arched porch, which is supported by partly fluted Doric columns and topped with an entablature that has a Greek key pattern. The doors are original, with No. 18 having a glazed upper part, and the ground floor is decorated with banded rustication.

Both houses have full-height and nearly full-width segmental bays, with all windows being flat-arched. The first- and second-floor windows are set back beneath an arcade of giant pilasters that carry round arches. The first-floor balcony has been renewed, and there is a storey band that breaks forward around the pilasters. The second-floor windows feature margin-lights, and there are cornices at various levels, including an attic storey and a secondary cornice, along with a blocking course and stacks on the side walls. The interior has not been inspected, but there are cast-iron railings leading to the steps and area.
