Description
This is a house, built between 1888 and 1890, designed by H.B. Measures and constructed by William Willett. It is built in a Flemish-Queen Anne Revival style. The house is constructed of red brick with terracotta dressings, tile-hung gables featuring bargeboards, and a steeply pitched clay tile roof. A large ornamental brick stack rises from above the entrance porch, projecting through a gabled dormer on the front facade, with simpler stacks on the returns.
The house features a double-fronted design, with two storeys plus an attic and three bays. The windows have a mixed arrangement of leaded upper lights. A large timber-framed and tile-hung gable end is positioned on the right, with dormers on the returns. The two-storey canted bay has a baluster parapet and a moulded cornice. The ground floor cill is carried on brackets, with a surviving window box guard. Small dormer windows are found in the left gable, framing a chimney flanked by windows on the first floor. An ornamental plaque sits at the base of the stack above the gabled porch, framing a recessed panelled door with inset lights and a sidelight.
The gatepiers are constructed of brick and terracotta and feature a hexagonal form with ogee caps; they have been relocated from their original position.
