Description

This is a substantial house dating to 1888-1890, designed by H.B. Measures and built by William Willett. It is constructed in a Flemish style, using red brick with terracotta detailing. The building has a steeply pitched clay tile roof with a polygonal brick stack rising from the eaves in the centre of the façade, and other stacks on the returns. A tall, shaped gable with dragon finials rises on the right-hand side, featuring three windows opening onto a rebuilt two-storey canted bay balcony. There is a lower shaped gable to the left, supported by full-height pilasters.

The plan is single-fronted, with a symmetrical arrangement of bays. The fenestration is varied, with many-paned upper lights to the sash windows on the first floor. A small, flat-roofed dormer window sits centrally. A recessed central section features an arched-head window with many panes in the centre, with two windows below a pedimented pilaster porch. The porch shelters a segmental-headed entrance with a two-bay unlit opening above, and a panelled door on the right return.
