Description
No. 69, including the gatepiers, is a house built in 1887, designed by architect H.B. Measures and constructed by builder William Willett. This building is in the Flemish style, featuring red brick with terracotta detailing. It has a steeply-pitched hipped clay tile roof, with a hipped roof over an oriel window and a monopitch roof over a dormer. A polygonal chimney rises from the eaves at the center of the facade, while other stacks with moulded caps are located on the returns.
The house is single-fronted and consists of two storeys plus an attic, with two bays. It has chamfered mullions with small upper lights of the same design. To the right, there is a three-storey gabled bay, and the second-floor window opens onto a balcony above a two-storey canted bay. On the left, there is an oriel window on the first floor with leaded lights above an arch-headed opening that leads to a recessed porch. The entrance features a small hall light with original leading and an original panelled door with inset lights.
The gatepiers are made of brick and terracotta, octagonal in shape with ogee caps, and they connect a low brick wall with renewed railings.
