Description
No. 12 Gardner Street, built in 1819, was originally Swan Downer's School and later became a public house before being converted into a shop. The building is made of brick and painted, with a roof that is obscured by a parapet. It stands three storeys high and has a three-window range. All the windows are flat-arched. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front, although the fascia still shows traces of an original inscription. The first and second floor windows have heads made of gauged brickwork and feature sashes of original design, with six panes by six panes on the first floor and three panes by six panes on the second floor. The right-hand first-floor window is blank, and the building is topped with a parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
