Description
No. 68 Ship Street is a terraced house located in Brighton, dated 1738 above the entrance, with the initials I B M. The house has been altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red and grey brick in English bond, with a roof that is obscured by a parapet. The building has three storeys and a three-window range, making it double-fronted. The entrance features a flat arch with an overlight, and the doorcase is adorned with pilasters, brackets, and an open pediment, all of which have been renewed. There are broad, segmental-arched tripartite windows on either side of the entrance. The first and second-floor windows have cambered arches, with the outer windows on the first floor featuring cast-iron window guards. A storey band runs between the first and second floors, while the second floor has been much rebuilt. The building also has a gutter and side stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
