Description
The Druid's Head Inn is a public house located in Brighton, originally built as a house in the late 18th century. It was altered in early 1825 when it was converted into a public house. The building is constructed of flint with painted brick dressings, and features a stucco facing that forms a plinth scored to imitate ashlaring. The roof is tiled.
The inn has two storeys and a dormer over a basement, with a two-window range. The entrance is slightly to the left of the center and, like all the openings on the front, is segmental arched with a brick lintel and brick quoin surrounds. The windows have projecting sills, and there is a brick storey band between the ground and first floors. A brick lacing course forms a lintel band above the first-floor windows and projects slightly from the wall. The building is topped with a brick dentil cornice under the guttered eaves and has two roof dormers. The right-hand party wall is expressed above the roof, and there are stacks on the party walls. It is reported that there is a blocked cellar passage, a feature commonly found in this part of the Old Town. The interior has not been inspected.
