Description
The estate office and adjoining tower, located north-west of Ascot Place, date from the mid-18th century and have been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and feature an old tile hipped roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a square tower and single-storey projections on the west side.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a small rendered plinth and brick dentilled eaves. It has 2-light, 18th-century leaded casement windows with segmental brick arched heads. The east front consists of four bays, with 18th-century leaded windows in the first and third bays, and plain wooden planked doors in wide box frames in the second and fourth bays. There is a wide planked door with three glazed panels and long strap hinges in the ground floor second bay. A clock, likely from the 19th century, is positioned on the south-east corner just below the eaves, supported by elaborate iron scrolled brackets and featuring an iron clock face decorated with an acanthus leaf in each corner.
The tower has two stages and a pyramidal roof topped with a small bellcote that has open arched sides and a lead ogee roof with a ball finial. The tower is plain, except for a small plank door in the second stage and a 2-light window in the first stage at ground floor level, both of which have segmental brick arches.
The interiors have not been inspected. A link block adjoins the estate office and tower on the east, while a wall with gates connects the estate office and tower to the stables on the west. Together, the estate office and tower form part of the north side of a stone-paved and cobbled stable yard.
