Description

Orford House Social Club is a large, detached villa dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco with a slate hipped roof extending to a parapet, and displays a Neo-Classical style. The building is two storeys high and comprises five wide bays, with the second and fourth bays projecting slightly and topped with pediments. Ground floor windows in these projecting bays are set within arched reveals. A recessed entrance is defined by Doric columns. The windows are square-headed, with cornices to the ground floor, and feature sash glazing bars. Blind oculi are set within the pediments. A cornice runs along the outer bays, and the central bays have deep eaves. The rear elevation is also of architectural interest. The interior is believed to contain a plain but elegant cantilevered spiral staircase.
