Description

The Old Town Hall, now a college, was built in 1866. It is constructed of brick with stucco dressings and has a slate roof. The building is a symmetrical composition in the Italianate style.

The main building is two storeys high, with a five-bay central block. To the left is a lower two-storey section with a single triple window, and to the right, a single-storey section also with a single triple window. A slightly projecting three-bay Doric porch provides the central entrance. The upper floor features a canted bay window. The windows are round-headed, with prominent keystones and stucco architraves. A cornice runs above the ground floor, and a main console cornice sits above the first-floor parapet. Above the central bay is an oval dormer, and a pavilion roof projects, featuring iron cresting. The interior retains original features, including a cast iron stairway and plasterwork.
