Description

The chapel located to the south of the main hospital block at Langthorne Hospital was built in 1840 and originally served as part of a workhouse. It is constructed of buff brick and features a pitched slate roof that extends to the eaves. The building has five bays and is designed in the Rundbogenstil style, characterized by paired arched windows in each bay. The gabled south facade includes arched entrances on either side of a central arched niche, which contains paired, round-headed windows. A date plaque is situated on the gable. The interior has not been inspected. Langthorne Hospital was previously known as the West Ham Union Workhouse.
