Description
The Rothschild Mausoleum in the Jewish Cemetery was built in 1866 and designed by architect Sir Matthew Digby Wyatt. This circular domed stone building features Renaissance details and is located on the main axis of the cemetery. It has engaged Corinthian columns and an enriched wall surface between them. The mausoleum includes rectangular windows beneath a cornice, which are adorned with elaborate iron grilles. The richly carved entablature and parapet are complemented by a fluted dome that is finished with decorative vases. The mausoleum was erected by Ferdinand de Rothschild in memory of his wife, Evelina.
