Description
Glapthorn Road Hospital Chapel, built in 1896 by Ninian Comper, was originally constructed as the workhouse chapel. It is a simple structure made of coursed stone with a stone slate roof. The chapel features a gable facing the road, topped with a finial, and includes a narrow three-light lancet window beneath a blank niche with a cusped head. Narrow buttresses are present at the corners. The nave has five windows with dripmoulds set in bays formed by the buttresses. At the west end, there is a plain bell cote and a plain arched doorway located beneath a window with two lancet lights. The chapel is part of a group that includes the main building and the hospital.
