Description
The Orangery Wall at Beddington Place is a Grade II listed structure built in 1690. It measures 192 feet 10 inches in length and is constructed of red brick, divided into nine bays by plain rubbed red brick. Each bay features Doric pilasters and two blank round-arched 'windows'. The wall includes a plinth, a rubbed brick cornice, a blocking course, and stone capping. The east end of the wall has a rubbed brick Doric doorway adorned with a triglyph frieze and pediment, featuring a round arch and a ten-fielded panel door. The tops of the wall are significantly weathered and decayed, with parts of the capping missing. Previously, there were a pair of ashlar gate piers and urns at the east end, but these are now gone and in poor repair. The Orangery Wall is part of a group that includes the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, lychgates, churchyard walls, and other structures in the vicinity.
