Description
The Pigeon House, located to the north-west of Beddington Place, is an early 18th-century large octagonal dovecote made of red brick. It features a band halfway up the structure, a modillioned eaves cornice, and an old tile roof topped with an octagonal open cupola, dome, and ball finial. This dovecote closely resembles another that was built at Carshalton House, which was demolished in 1906. It is likely that both were similar to a dovecote that existed at Kensington Palace and was demolished in the 19th century. The Pigeon House is part of a group that includes the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, lychgates, churchyard walls, the orangery wall, and other structures in the vicinity.
