Description
No 4 High Street is a cottage that appears to date from the late 18th century to early 19th century, but it incorporates materials in the base of its east wall that are much older, including flint and roughly squared masonry with a heavily tooled or axed surface. The building has two storeys with plastered walls and a plain tile gabled roof.
On the west wall, there is a two-light casement window with small panes on the left side, and to the right, at an intermediate level, a single-light window with diamond-shaped panes. The ground floor features a gabled porch on the left and a two-light casement window to the right of it. There are no visible openings on the east or north sides. The original south wall has a wide doorway with a wooden frame, as well as a small window.
From the south, the cottage forms a group with the nearby church, churchyard walls, and the wall to the south of No 6 High Street.
