Description
No 1 High Street is a 19th-century lodge that stands as a single storey building. It features a hipped slate roof and is clad in red brick with a brick plinth. The west front has a central doorway, which is flanked by two splayed four-light bay windows, each light having a pointed head. Three steps lead up to the central doorway, which is half-glazed with upper panels also featuring pointed heads. On the right-hand side, there are two two-light windows, with lights that also have pointed heads.
This building is included as part of a group that consists of the road bridge, Leoni Bridge, culvert, and retaining walls to Carshalton Ponds, as well as the entrance gates to the Grove, Honeywood Museum, Wall and Gatehouse, Honeywood Walk with Anne Boleyn's Well, St Mary's, and Madeley Cottage in Church Hill. It also relates to several items on the south side of High Street, including the Greyhound Inn, the wall to the east of the Greyhound Inn, the Church of All Saints, the north churchyard wall, and Nos 6 and 12 High Street.
