Description
This is a group of two blocks of 18th-century cottages located on Hackbridge Green. Originally known as numbers 1 to 8 The Green, they are part of the historic Beddington and Wallington area. The cottages are arranged in two parallel ranges, with a single-storey connecting wing situated between numbers 15 and 19. They feature old slate roofs and dentilled eaves. The cottages were originally constructed of red brick, but are now colourwashed or have a roughcast plaster finish. Each block has two sashes on the upper floor and one sash on the lower floor. The original doors were six-panelled, with architraves and heavy hoods supported by brackets. Some doors, notably at numbers 11 and 21, are now enclosed by modern porches; numbers 15 and 23 have modern porches and doors. Numbers 9 to 15 (odd) and 19 to 27 (odd) form a cohesive group.
