Description
Boathouse 1 is a Grade II listed boathouse built in 1916 by Augustine Alban Hamilton Scott for the Thorneycroft firm, which constructed fast launches for the Admiralty. The boathouse features a slipway that connects to Nos 2 and 4. It is a timber-framed structure clad in zinc sheeting, topped with a cambered roof. The end of the building has a fixed casement window with industrial glass, while the right side has eight windows, most of which are blocked. There are double doors, and the structure is 16 bays long, supported by square posts with two tiers of midrails and wooden bolted feet. The roof is a Belfast truss design with a central glazed skylight. The side adjoining No 2 has bolted uprights and diagonal braces.
