Description
Boathouse 5, built in 1917 by Augustine Alban Hamilton Scott for the Thorneycroft firm, is designed for constructing fast launches that carried torpedoes for the Admiralty. The structure features an open shed supported by upright posts set in concrete padstones. Due to the curved slipway, the shed has a distinctive curved roof made of Belfast trusses, complete with passing braces and cross ties. The remaining part of the boathouse, aside from the easternmost 13 bays, is not of special interest as it has been rebuilt.
