Description

The tomb of Elizabeth Grey is located in the churchyard of St Peter's Church and dates from 1760. It is a chest tomb made of rubbed red brick, featuring a heavy rounded ledger slab made of Pennant stone, which stands on a base of Portland stone. Each side of the tomb has a sunk panel in rubbed red brick. The tomb was erected by her widower, John Gray, who expressed his deep sorrow over her loss. John Gray passed away in 1796.
