TQ1873 PETERSHAM 22/25/10113 Tomb of Francis Barker in the churchya 23-MAR-00 rd of St Peter's Church

GV II

Churchyard monument. Chest tomb to Mr. Francis Barker, d.1710. Portland and Pennant stone. Angle pilasters with reliefs of trophies of death suspended from fillets in the manner John van Nost. South west pilaster inserted upside-down. Armorial relief on east end. Inscription on south side describes Barker as a Citizen of London: this monument was erected by his sorrowful Relict Eliz. & his Eldest son Thomas Barker.' Ledger slab bears inscription to Mr. Joseph Christopher .North side inscription commemorates Mrs. Sarah Crean d.1836. (Catalogue No. 447)
