TQ1873 PETERSHAM 22/25/10112 Tomb of Nathaniel Halhed in the church 23-MAR-00 yard of St Peter's Church

GV II

Churchyard monument. Tomb to Nathaniel Halhed d.1730. Marble. Statuary marble pedestal formerly surmounted with an urn, now detached and lying on ground, and standing on a stepped base, formerly enclosed by railings. Inscription panels on east and west faces badly weathered: only legible name is James Halhed, son of Nathaniel, d. 1757. (Inscription given in Warren (1978), 133.) Formerly one of the most lavish tombs in the churchyard. (Catalogue No. 388).
