Description
Nos. 18 and 20 on Hill Rise are 18th century brick houses featuring a slate mansard roof. The buildings rise four storeys and include dormers, with a width of four windows. The ground floor has two modified Victorian shop fronts that are set well forward. Above these, there are square-headed windows with gauged brick heads. The first floor has casement windows that lead to balconies, while the upper floors feature sash windows with glazing bars. A string course is present at the second floor level, along with a heavy cornice and parapet. Gothic iron window guards adorn the second floor. The interior has not been seen. These houses are listed partly due to their significance as part of the Georgian group on Hill Rise.
