Description

Canal-head grotto is an early 18th-century structure featuring a brick core with stone and flint rustication, along with some shell work. It has a central arch flanked by two lower arches and is located at the head of a long formal canal, concealing a reservoir behind it. This grotto is part of the formal garden layout from the early 18th century. Valentines Park, where the grotto is situated, is listed in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens at grade II.
