Description
Morden Park is a substantial house set in its own grounds, now used as offices. It was built in 1770 and features a brown brick exterior with a low-pitched slate roof that has a parapet. The southeast front has five bays and a central arched entrance made of painted stone, flanked by Doric columns and pilasters. The entrance is adorned with narrow side sashes and a triglyph frieze, cornice, and pediment. Above the entrance, the painted stone surrounds rise to create a balustraded apron and architrave for the square-headed, pedimented window. The ground floor windows are round-headed and set in round gauged-headed reveals, featuring sashes with glazing bars. The upper windows are square-headed with gauged heads, also sashes. A painted stone cornice and parapet complete the facade. The left and right sides have canted ground floor bay windows with round-headed windows in round-headed reveals and balustraded parapets. Inside, there are contemporary features such as a marble-paved entrance hall and an Imperial-style staircase with wrought iron balustrades, along with other fittings from the same period. To the northwest, there are 18th-century brick walls with two attached circular buildings that have conical slate roofs.
