Description

The Village Club and Hall is a village club built in 1859 by S S Teulon and enlarged in 1879. It is constructed of yellow brick with red dressings and is designed in the Gothic revival style. The main elevation faces Lingfield Road and features two storeys with nine irregular bays. On the left, there is a large advanced gabled wing that has a cuspless four-light geometrical traceried window on the upper floor. To the right of this wing stands a tower topped with a pyramidal roof and featuring a gabled entrance. The central section is a recessed five-bay, two-storey range that includes a full-height bay window on the left and segmental gauged brick-headed windows with three-light casements. There is also a smaller advanced gabled cottage wing at the corner, which has a canted bay window on the ground floor. The building is adorned with prominent chimneys. Additionally, there is a return to Ridgway, dated 1879, which is also of architectural interest.
