Description

Queen Alexandra's Court (northern eastern block) is a residential block built between 1904 and 1905, designed by Ernest George and Yeates with C E L Parkinson. The building features red brick with Portland stone dressings and quoins, topped by a steeply pitched hipped green slate roof. It is designed in a Neo-Georgian style and consists of three storeys with 14 bays arranged in triplets, separated by wider entrance bays that are clad in Portland stone. These entrance bays have segmental arched entrances on the ground floor, along with mullioned windows and an arched balconied opening above. The other windows are square-headed with gauged heads, sashed, and have glazing bars. The building is finished with a modillion eaves cornice and slab chimneys. It is one of four similar blocks that surround a quadrangle and is part of the Royal Homes for Widows and Daughters of Naval and Military Officers.
