Description
Parkfield House and Parkfield Cottages are substantial buildings located on Charville Lane West in Hillingdon. The villa, dating from the early to mid-19th century, is constructed of stucco and features low pitched slated roofs with eaves soffits. It stands three storeys tall with five windows, and has splayed bays on the returns. The windows are recessed sash types, and there is a Roman Doric porch with paired columns and an entablature. A long rear wing is designed in a similar style.
Parkfield Cottages are believed to be the original farmhouse, which was later expanded with the construction of the more imposing Parkfield House. Although they are now rented as separate dwellings, there is no physical separation between them. The cottages date from the 18th century and are two storeys high with two windows. They feature a fairly high pitched tiled roof, painted brickwork with a first-floor band, and cambered brick arches over the sash windows, which include tripartite windows on the ground floor. One upper window has been blocked, while another is a modern insertion. There is also a modernized section between the cottages and Parkfield House, along with considerable westward extensions from the late 19th century and later.
