Description
The Firs and Acacia House are a pair of early 19th century houses located on the north-east side of Uxbridge Road in Hillingdon. They are two storeys tall, each with two windows, and are finished in painted stucco. The houses feature a parapet above their hipped and slated roofs, which have been turnerized. Acacia House has 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 sash windows of an early 19th century design on the first floor, along with French doors leading to a full-height canted bay on the ground floor, also of original design. This bay is topped with a dentil cornice. The left entrance, which is set back, has been altered and is located under a gabled hood.
The Firs also features a full-height canted bay on the right side, with its entrance on the left set back and sheltered by a wood lattice porch, above which is a rectangular bay. At the time of its listing, Acacia House contained two original marble fireplace surrounds. The Firs and Acacia House, along with Glenthorne, Perryfield, Grenedehar, Highfield Cottage, and the former Magnolia House, form a group of buildings of architectural significance.
