Description

The granaries at Knightscote Farm date from the early to mid-19th century and consist of a pair of weatherboarded structures, each with a timber frame and standing on eight staddle stones. They feature tiled roofs. The northern granary includes an 18th century six-panel door with a latticed ventilation opening above it, and has a queen strut roof with clasped purlins. The southern granary has a similar roof but has undergone extensive repairs. Its walls are lined with planks that were originally part of the grain bins. These granaries are listed as surviving examples of a once-common agricultural building type in Middlesex, and their status as a pair is also notable.
