Description

Harefield Old Workhouse is a building that dates from the early 18th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring five windows. The roof is fairly high pitched and tiled, with three gabled dormers that have old leaded casements. The other windows are 19th century small-paned casements, with those on the ground floor set under cambered arches. There are short wings extending at either side, creating a shallow, inverted U-shape, which is similar to the old workhouse in Eastcote. The building is listed partly for its historical significance as an early example of a workhouse.
