Description

Harwood Hall is a large country house built circa 1782 for Sir James Esdaile, and altered circa 1840 in a Gothic style. The exterior is rendered. The house features a large, central three-storey canted bay window flanked by two-storey wings, each of one bay. A raised band runs above the ground floor, and a cornice is present over the first floor (extended over the second floor in the central bay). A castellated parapet tops the building. Casement windows are found on the ground and first floors, while sash windows are present on the second floor of the central bay. The interior retains some late 18th-century chimney-pieces.
