Description
Number 17 on Greenwich Church Street is a late 17th-century house, part of a pair with Number 15. It has three storeys and an attic, featuring two windows. The house has a very high pitched roof, which has been renewed with machine tiles, and includes one square-headed dormer. There is a moulded and modillioned wooden eaves cornice. The front is made of painted brick and has a band at the second floor level. The original sash windows have been replaced but still feature gauged brick arches in flush, box frames. The ground floor has a modern shop front.
Inside, from the first floor upwards, there is an original cantilevered staircase with a narrow square well. The staircase has turned balusters, square newels, and a raised band on the handrail that ends in a raised square on the newel. One pendant remains. Additionally, there is one original corner fireplace on the first floor.
Numbers 11 to 21 (odd) form a group with this building.
