Description
This is a terrace of six houses, numbered 39 to 43 King William Walk, built around 1840. The terrace has three storeys and two windows per house, constructed with stucco. A modified entablature and blocking course runs along the top, with a string course below the second-floor windows. A heavy cornice is positioned at the level of the first-floor window sills. The first- and second-floor sash windows have moulded architraves; those on the first floor have stop-chamfered shoulders. Most of the windows have glazing bars, though some have been replaced. The ground-floor windows are set in plain reveals. Number 43 is distinguished by pediment-shaped architraves to its first-floor windows. Each house features a cornice head and a rectangular fanlight above the door, flanked by pilasters with unusually designed capitals. These pilasters extend above the capitals to the cornice. Three small, raised stucco panels with ring moulding are positioned between the pilasters. Nos 38 to 43 form a group visually.
