Description

HIGH STREET, BECKENHAM 1. 4407 Lychgate to St George's Churchyard TQ 36 NE 2/8A 28.5.54.

  1. C13 restored in 1924 and according to a tablet attached to it the oldest surviving lych-gate in England. An upright timber on each side of the path supports cross-beams, north and south and across the path, with supporting brackets. Tiled hipped roof with gables. Photograph in the NMR.
