Description

The lychgate to St George's Churchyard, located on High Street in Beckenham, dates back to the 13th century and was restored in 1924. It is noted as the oldest surviving lychgate in England, according to a tablet attached to it. The structure features an upright timber on each side of the path that supports cross-beams to the north and south, along with additional supporting brackets. It has a tiled hipped roof with gables. A photograph of the lychgate is held in the National Monuments Record.
