Description
Bishop Challoner School is a late 18th century building that was formerly known as Shortlands House School. The structure features a stuccoed central section that is two stories tall with five windows, flanked by two bowed wings made of yellow brick, which are of a higher elevation and each have three windows. The building has a parapet and a slate roof, with intact glazing bars. A colonnaded verandah runs along the ground floor of the central portion. There are modern additions at the rear. Notably, the historian George Grote was born here on November 17, 1794.
