Description

BARNET TQ2588 HAMPSTEAD WAY 31-0126/10176 (South west side) Hampstead Garden Suburb No.221 GV II

Includes: No.7 FARM WALK Hampstead Garden Suburb. Pair of houses. 1910, to designs of Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. Same range of materials and finishes as found in Nos. 217 and 219 (q.v.), with which this block forms a pair. Two storeys, elements of the angled block mirroring those on Nos. 217 and 219. Stair tower, four-window 'hall, range, with facing gable, here of two-window range; the axis of the latter feature turned to corner, to form a transition to Farm Walk. Entrance to No.7 Farm Walk is under canopied porch at rear corner of facing gable's return. Two-window range above, both as hipped half dormers; level change to short wing to Farm Walk. By revealing more of crosswing to Farm Walk on the west, the architects have managed to introduce coherence into a difficult point of transition. The elevation to No.7 forms a group with Nos. 1-6 (consecutive) Farm Walk (q.v.).
