Artisans' cottages. 1908-9. Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. Painted pebbledash over brick plinth. Roofs of tile, gabled returns with exposed purlins to eaves; swept eaves to front and rear walls. Two storeys and two-window range. Like pair opposite, Nos. 13 and 15, the essentially rectangular elevation is relieved by the application of features found elsewhere in the Suburb: a pair of gable-facing half dormers, with diminutive catslide dormer of two square windows on upper slope of roof at the party wall; entrances flanking party wall set in porches with angled returns that run out into a deep, canted bay. Axial stack to front slope of roof in each return. Forms a group with Nos. 1-35 (odd) and 2-36 (even) Temple Fortune Hill, an important part of the original artisans' quarter as planned by Unwin; the emphasis is on the production of a coherent streetscape composed of distinct types.
