Description

No. 621 on Rainham Road South is a mid-19th century former police station built of yellow stock brick. The building features three window bays. The ground floor openings have round-headed gauged brick arches set within semi-circular headed gauged brick recesses, complete with brick keys and raised brick impost bands. The outer bays contain recessed sash windows with radiating glazing bars, while the central bay has a later entrance door with a covered fanlight above. A raised brick band runs along the first floor level, which has square-headed window openings with recessed sash windows divided by glazing bars. The architraves are distinctive, featuring raised painted stone cills and lintels connected by raised brick piers. The roof is hipped and slated, topped with yellow stock brick chimney stacks.
