Description
The River Embankment from the Houses of Parliament to Lambeth Bridge is an embankment wall located in Victoria Tower Gardens, Millbank, Westminster. It was built in the mid-19th century and is designed to complement the Palace of Westminster, created by architects Barry and Pugin. The wall is made of granite and features a battered design with mooring rings and a weather-coped parapet. On the landward side, there is a plinth, die, and coping that are cranked in two stages. The mouldings around the wall curve around canted buttresses at regular intervals. The southernmost section of the embankment is separated from the rest by the western abutment of Lambeth Bridge.
