Description

This is a row of three terraced townhouses at 14-16 Wyndham Place, built around 1811-1823 as part of the development of Bryanston Square on the Portman Estate. The buildings were designed by J.T. Parkinson. They are constructed of stock brick with channelled stucco to the ground floors, and have concealed slate roofs. The houses are four storeys high, with a basement.

Each front is three windows wide, though No. 14 incorporates a passageway to a rear yard, with a two-window wide front adjacent. Semicircular arched doorways are located to the left on numbers 15 and 16, and to the right next to the passageway on number 14. The doorway at number 14 has a panelled door within reeded jambs. The doorways at numbers 15 and 16 have Greek Doric columns supporting the doorhead, with patterned fanlights above. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows, each set beneath a flat, gauged arch. There is a plat band of stuccowork at the level of the first floor. A crowning stucco cornice and blocking course finish the facades. Continuous cast iron balconies in a Gothic pattern run along the first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are present.
