Description

TQ 2881 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER WIMPOLE STREET W1 56/28 (east side) Nos 5 and 6 5.2.70 GV II Terrace houses. c.1785 with some alterations. Brown brick and stucco, slate roofs. Four storeys and basements. Each of 3 windows wide. Ground floors have rusticated stucco work. The doorway of No 6 altered later C20 but No 5 retains unaltered central doorway in stucco architrave with pulvinated frieze and consoles to cornice over. Revealed sashes with later C19 glazing, under flat gauged arches to upper floors. Moulded cornice at third floor level, parapet with coping. Interior altered late 1880s with reset linenfold panelling in hall.
