Description

Nos 5 and 6 Wimpole Street are terrace houses built around 1785, with some alterations. They are constructed of brown brick and stucco, topped with slate roofs. The buildings rise four storeys and include basements, each featuring three windows. The ground floors display rusticated stucco work. The doorway of No 6 has been altered in the later 20th century, while No 5 retains its original central doorway, which is framed by a stucco architrave with a pulvinated frieze and consoles supporting the cornice above. The upper floors have revealed sashes with later 19th-century glazing, set beneath flat gauged arches. A moulded cornice runs along the third floor, and there is a parapet with coping. The interior was altered in the late 1880s, featuring reset linenfold panelling in the hall.
