Description

This is a terrace of two houses, numbers 8 and 10, Little Newport Street, built around 1772 and altered in the early to mid-19th century. The exterior is multi-coloured stock brick with stucco dressings, and the ground and first floors are stuccoed, topped by a slate roof. The buildings are four storeys high, with number 8 having an additional fourth floor. Each house has two windows across the front, except for number 8, which has three. The ground floor features wooden shop fronts added in the mid-19th century, with doorways and shop fronts with square-headed fanlights and panelled doors. The first floor has irregularly framed, recessed sash windows, with Tuscan pilasters. The upper brick floors have recessed, flat arched sash windows, some of which are blind. A Doric entablature runs above the first floor. There is a damaged stucco cornice with a blocking course raised in a shallow pediment over number 10, and a coping to the parapet of number 8.
