Description
Nos 20 and 20A Newport Court is a terraced house with shops, dating from the refacing or rebuild in 1772-73. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a concealed roof. It stands four storeys tall and has four windows across its façade. The ground floor has later 20th-century shop fronts, while the upper floors are characterized by recessed sash windows with gauged brick segmental arches. There is a brick plat band at the second floor and a parapet with coping. This property was originally part of Nicholas Barbon's development of the Newport House site in 1682. The rear elevation, which includes Nos 12 and 13 Little Newport Street, has been altered and amalgamated in the late 20th century, featuring yellow stock brick and later repairs.
