Description
No. 26 Rupert Street is a terrace house built around 1729, with later heightening and alterations. It is constructed of painted brick and has a concealed roof. The building stands four storeys tall and is two windows wide. The ground floor features a mid-20th century shopfront. The first floor has slightly recessed sash windows without glazing bars, set in exposed box frames and topped with flat gauged arches. The second floor has sash windows that are recessed under segmental gauged arches. There is a sill band at the first floor level and a parapet with coping at the top. Inside, the house retains a dog leg staircase with turned balusters and panelling in the second floor rooms. This property is part of the Pulteney Estate, which was developed in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
